I’ve been teaching knitting, spinning, and introductory weaving in small class settings since 2016. I’ve recently started teaching online. I have many years of experience teaching adults and have always emphasized the “why” along with the “how.”
I love sharing my fibre experience with beginner and intermediate makers alike.
Private Knitting or Spinning Lessons
Do you need some help getting to the next level in your knitting or spinning? I teach adventurous beginners how to make their own yarn on a drop spindle and how to master many different knitting techniques. Contact me to set up a class! Private or semi-private – sign up with a friend! $35/hour for an online meet up. Limited in-person classes available, masks required, $45/hour for one person.
Beginner Knitter Package
Join me to learn the basics of knitting – you’ll learn how to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off while working on a simple project like fingerless mittens, dishcloths, a scarf, or a cowl. The beginner package includes two sessions (about 2.5hours total), scheduled about a week apart. Before the classes, you’ll need to get some basic supplies. Once we decide on your project, I’ll send an equipment list. The online environment isn’t ideal for this tactile craft, but with two decent webcams or cell-phone cameras, it’s amazing what we can accomplish. $85 plus materials. Email to schedule.
Next Steps Workshop: Cables and Charts
In the Cables Workshop, you will knit a cozy headband while mastering knitted cables. You will be working from a printed pattern to make the headband, and will therefore learn how to read charts and understand cable symbols on knitting charts. We will meet online – the equipment list and pattern will be sent to you via email. Two hour workshop; minimum 2 students, maximum 4. Cost: $35 per person. Register by contacting me at the link below. If the times below don’t work, please feel free to suggest a time.
Monday November 23, 7 – 9 pm
Saturday November 28, 2:30 – 4:30 pm
Choose-Your-Own-Adventure Knitting Classes
Often taught through Wet Coast Wools, a Vancouver yarn store, but now taught via Zoom! Are you an adventurous beginning knitter looking for a new challenge? Join 1 to 3 other students for online knitting help and socializing over your knitting.
This class will help you move on from the most basic knitting skills (cast on, cast off, knit and purl) to something a little more adventurous. Each student will work on a project of their choice and at their own speed to master new knitting skills with plenty of support and encouragement along the way from the instructor.
Perhaps you want to learn to knit in the round or perhaps you want to try some lace? Maybe it’s time to embark on your first simple sweater or shawl and you want some support? Maybe you just need to learn how how to read and work from a pattern? We can tackle all of this and more.
Current online sessions: Sunday mornings 11:00am – noon and Tuesday evenings 7:30 – 8:30pm.
Cost: $40 for three classes – pro-rating available if you join mid-session. Minimum 2 students, maximum 4.
